AUBURN, NY — With a rousing 17-2 victory over the Auburn Doubledays, the Olean Oilers extended their win streak to five games — the longest of any win streak in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL).

The margin of victory, prevented from getting even wider by league mercy rules, was the largest of any Oilers win over their plentiful run of form. It also now stands as the largest margin of victory for the team in their PGCBL tenure, topping their 13-run win over the Niagara Ironbacks on June 12.

But for as dominant as the win was, Olean started out on the back foot — falling behind 1-0 after the first frame. Two runs in response and another solitary Auburn run in the bottom of the second left the game knotted up at 2-2.

However, the Oilers would turn the game on its head quickly, spotting 10 runs in the third, leaving their hosts in the dust.

A mercy was already in sight going into the seventh inning, but, for insurance purposes, Olean tacked on five more runs to put the game to bed.

Leading the red-hot offense on the night for the Oilers was Aidan Willard, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI, and Darek Staudt, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Jack Painter (2-for-3, 3 runs, 4 RBI), Cooper Tarlie (2-for-4, run, RBI), Brian Fleming (1-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBI), Brayden Rader (2 runs, RBI), Brian Carrothers (2 runs, RBI) and Conner Vercollone (2 runs) all contributed heavily in the win as well.
