THURSDAY ROUNDUP: Olean Oilers mercy ruled by Elmira Pioneers; Kate Maedl leads Allen’s Wine and Liquor past Shamrocks in OWSL

ELMIRA, NY — The Olean Oilers were blitzed by the Elmira Pioneers in what resulted in a 14-4, seven-inning mercy rule loss.

The Oilers got off to a solid start against the Pioneers, scoring three runs in the top of the very first frame. However, over the next three innings, Elmira responded with a vengeance, scoring 14 unanswered runs.

Olean scored a consolation run in the top of the seventh, but was unable to stave off the mercy rule.

The Oilers’ offense was led by Christo Hunsicker, who finished 2-for-3 with a run.

The team’s pitching staff was led by Olean native Austin Miles, who picked up the team’s only two strikeouts of the game.

OLEAN, NY — Kate Maedl led Allen’s Wine and Liquor to a lopsided win over Shamrocks, going 5-for-5 with a triple.

Peyton Young (4-for-4), Eva West (4-for-5), Stacy Gunsolus (3-for-4) and Makenna Manning (HR) contributed to the win as well.

Jocelyn Huslstein and Steph Falandys both went 2-for-2 in the loss.

Hangry Pitches 10, KSW Photography 8

OLEAN, NY — Staving off a four-run fifth inning from KSW Photography, Hangry Pitches scored a narrow win.

Jackie Daniels led Hangry Pitches in the win, going 3-for-4 with a triple. Judy Kessler (2-for-5) and Liz Rix (triple) assisted in the winning effort.

Lily Bushnell (2-for-3, triple), Kasey Wilder (2-for-3, double, triple), Lindsay Allen (2-for-4) and Liz Tucker (2-for-3, double) stood out in the loss.

Randys 7, Angees  2

OLEAN, NY — Recording three hits apiece, Shania Griffin, Kaelyn Arnold and Molly Eddington led Randy’s to a win over Angee’s.

Kayla Shoemaker and Tierney Hemphill both had two hits in the win.

Betsy McNabb led Angee’s with a 3-for-3 performance. Kendra Colegrove had two hits in the loss as well.

The Halfway Inn 22, Pitches Be Crazy 0

OLEAN, NY — An 11-run inning boosted The Halfway Inn to a shutout win over Pitches Be Crazy.

Harley Ficek led The Halfway Inn, tallying four hits — one of which was a triple. Brooke BeYoe, Faith Capito, Aliyah Cole, Jenna Hadley and Felecia Thompson each had doubles in the win as well.

Angel Kenyon and Bella Chitester each had hits in the loss.
