LITTLE VALLEY — All Cattaraugus County enrolled Democrats will have an opportunity to vote in the June 23 primary for Congress in the 23rd District.
Republicans in Ward 5 in the city of Olean and Ward 2 in the city of Salamanca plus four towns — Olean, Portville, Red House and South Valley — will select candidates for the county Republican Committee.
Early voting is also available to enrolled Democrats and Republicans in the six municipalities starting June 13 at the Cutco Building at Jamestown Community College in Olean and at the Board of Elections offices in Little Valley.
The first day of early voting is June 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition, two Salamanca polling sites in Wards 1 and 2 will be relocated to Riverside Chapel, 134 Broad St., for the primary, according to Election Commissioners Kevin Burleson and Cortney Spittler. The move is temporary and a return to the original polling sites in Salamanca is scheduled for November.
Polling sites are open across the county from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Primary Day, June 23.
County Democrats will be choosing a challenger to Rep. Nick Langworthy of Niagara County in the 23rd Congressional District: Aaron Gies of Olean and Kevin Stocker of Tonawanda.
In Republican voting in Ward 5 in the City of Olean, George Filgrove, Michkio McElfresh, Mayor Amy Sherburne and Paul LeBlanc are vying for three seats on the Cattaraugus County Republican Committee.
In the City of Salamanca, three Republicans — Lyle Milliman, John Bromley and Denise Travis are listed as
committeemen candidates seeking three seats on the county GOP Committee. There is a write-in opportunity for someone whose name is not on the ballot.
Town of Olean voters in District 1 have three candidates for three positions on the county Republican Committee — Brandon Morrow, Ryan Hatch and Kurt Johnsen III.
In District 1 in the Town of Portville, four Republicans are running for four sets on the county GOP Committee — Portville Mayor Anthony Evans, Eric Firkel, Danny Hale and Joseph McLarney.
In the Town of Portville’s District 2, six people are on the ballot for three seats on the county GOP Committee — Christopher Travis, Johanna Johnson, Kip Morrow, Todd J. Shaw, Porterville Supervisor Timothy Emley and Todd D. Shaw.
Voters in the Town of Red House can vote for up to three candidates for the county Republican Committee. Only one is on the ballot, Matthew Miller. There are write-in opportunities as well.
And in South Valley, there are three candidates on the ballot for seats on the county Republican Committee — Bridget Marshall, Justin Brooks and Amy Brooks.
Early voting at JCC in Olean and the Board of Elections in Little Valley will be conducted June 14-22.

Absentee ballots are available to voters who will not be in the county on Primary Day, those who have a temporary illness or or permanent disability, or are a primary care giver for someone who is ill or disabled.
Any registered voter may apply for an early mail ballot. Each person must apply for themselves. It is a felony to make a false statement in an application for an early mail ballot, to attempt to cast an illegal ballot, or to help anyone to cast an illegal ballot.
