2026 Big 30 Charities Classic coaches release

The Big 30 has officially unveiled the names of head coaches and their respective staff members who have committed to lead Team New York and Team Pennsylvania in the upcoming 2026 Charities Classic. The following is the full release sent out by the selection committee:

NEW YORK

Jake Burkholder 

Head Coach

Southwestern/Frewsburg High School

Jake is currently Head Coach at Frewsburg in Varsity Football. He has been Head Coach for 7 years and Assistant Coach for 3 years. He is currently the Head Coach at Southwestern Frewsburg Varsity Football. He lists his awards and accomplishments as 6x C-South League Champions, 17 All-State selections, and 45-18 Overall Records as Head Coach. Professionally he is a Social Studies Special Education teacher at Southwestern High School. He was a Bill Walsh Diversity Internship candidate with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021 & 2023. This is his third time coaching in the Big 30 All-Star game. He is married to Jill Burkholder, and they have three children- Damien (12), Dominick (10), and Ty (6). He lists his hobbies and pastimes as spending time with his family, especially watching his boys in all their activities, and enjoying traveling to new places to experience different cultures. Football has been a major part of his life since middle school, and he believes it has helped shape him into the person that he is today through lessons that teach teamwork, competitiveness, and hard work.

Rob Collver 

Defensive Coordinator

Southwestern/Frewsburg High School

Rob has 2 years as head coach and 15 years as an assistant coach. He is currently the Defensive Coordinator. He lists his awards and accomplishments as three sectional titles with Frewsburg (2015, 2023,2024), Coach of the Year Award (boys basketball, 2023 and Varsity Head Coach. He played college football at Alleghany College. Rob is a SUNY Brockport graduate, 7-year PE teacher and coach at Panama, 11 years PE/Health teacher, and Coach at Frewsburg . He is married to Kimberly Collver, and they have two children – Brady (28) and Madigan (21).

Terry Gray

Assistant Coach

Southwestern/Frewsburg High School

Terry has had 22 years as Head Coach at Frewsburg, 2 years Assistant Coach at Southwestern, and two years as Assistant Coach at Randolph. He has had a number of years as Asst. Coach at Southwestern, and 2 years Assistant Coach at Randolph. He played Division 1 football at Temple University, he was on the Big East Academic team, he was the recipient of the John Remistra “Hardest Training Athlete Award Winner, “Who’s Who Amongst America’s Teachers Award Winner, Football Sectional Champion, Division Champions, Director of Physical Education for 10+ years, and Football Coach for 26 years. Terry has six children – Trent (23), Danielle (21), Traden (19), Madison (20), Jimmy (18) and Jake (12). He lists his hobbies and pastimes as weight training, mixed martial arts, football, and spending time with his children.

Kevin Salisbury 

Offensive Line Coach

Southwestern/Frewsburg High School

Kevin lists his award as NYS Chapter 6 Athletic Director of the Year in 2023. Professionally, he is the Middle School/High School Health and Physical Education Teacher at Southwestern, the Dean of Students, and the Athletic Director. He is married to Michelle Salisbury, and they have two children – Calvin (10) and Clare (16). He lists his hobbies and pastimes as playing baseball and softball and spending time with family and friends.

Trent Gray

Quarterbacks Coach – Defensive Backs Coach

Southwestern/Frewsburg High School 

Trent states that through his coaching experiences, he has had the privilege to win two Section 6, 8-man football championships in a row in 2023 and 2024 with Frewsburg, serving as the OC in 23 and the DC in 24. In 2025, in their first year merged with Southwestern, they were the Section 6 Class C finalist, and he served as the quarterback and Defensive Backs Coach for the season. He has had the privilege of coaching many athletes who were on all-state teams and achieved high recognition for their performance on and off the field. Trent is currently a Social Studies teacher at Frewsburg Central School. He has been there for his entire teaching career to this point of four years. He has taught a combination of Middle School Social Studies and Senior High Government. In his spare time, he coaches Varsity Girls Flag Football at Frewsburg and has been there since the start of the program. He played in the Big 30 game in 2018 for New York and coached for the same team in 2023. He says he is beyond excited to have another opportunity to participate in such an amazing event!

Matthew Miles 

Assistant Coach

Southwestern/Frewsburg High School

Matthew’s coaching experience has been 5 years as Head Coach and 4 years as Assistant Coach. Currently he is the Assistant Coach for Southwester/Frewsburg, working with the Quarterbacks and Defensive Backs. He lists his awards as 2017 Lakeshore Flag Football Champions(Panama) 2025, Class C South League Champions Southwestern/Frewsburg). His Military Awards were the Good Conduct Medal (2), Combat Action Ribbon (I), Iraqi Campaign Medal (3), and Air Medal Strike/Flight (1) He is a Retired Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Experiences in the Marine Corp were instrumental in shaping the type of football coach he strived to be. He encouraged strong communication, to be fierce competitors displaying honor and humility in victory and defeat. He is married to Laura Miles, and they have three children: MacKenzie (17), Johnathan “DJ” (15), and Jordan (11). His hobbies and pastimes are fishing and spending time with his wife and children. He loves to watch his children compete in sports. Matthew spends time learning Marine Corp history and tradition. He also spends time studying football concepts and schemes.

PENNSYLVANIA

Ryan D. Yingling 

Head Coach

Smethport High School

Ryan is currently Head Coach for the Smethport Hubbers. He has had 6 years as a Junior High Head Coach, 3 years as Varsity Head Coach, and 17 years as an Assistant Coach. All coaching positions have been with Smethport High School. He has 26 years total coaching experience. His awards and accomplishments as Varsity Head Coach include being the 2025 District IX Region 6 Co-Coach of the year and receiving the 2025 Times Herald Big 30 Sportsmanship Award for Smethport football. He was a Varsity Assistant Coach in the 2016 Big 30 game, which was that year’s winner. Also as a Varsity Assistant Coach, his team was the 2018 Small School North Champs, District IX Small School North Champs and District IX Runner up, 2020 Varsity Football Small School North Champs and District IX Runner up.  As a Varsity Assistant Coach in 2021, his team was the Small School North Champ in District IX. He lists his playing experiences as a two-time AML All-Star, Big 30 Times Herald Offensive All-Star, Played in the Big 30 game on offense.  He played football in college at Waynesburg University. He is the Chief Detective in the McKean County District Attorney’s Office and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Criminal Justice. He is married to Kellie Yingling and they have a daughter, Kendall (16), and triplet boys, Rylan, Greyson, and A.J. (12). Additionally, Ryan is the Vice-President of Smethport Borough Council, Chairman of the Parks Committee, and a local business owner.

Joel R. Lent

Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach

Smethport Area High School 

Joel is presently the Offensive Coordinator/QB’s for the Smethport Hubbers. He has 2 years of experience as a Head Coach and 14 years of experience as an Assistant Coach in Smethport. He is the Manager of Smethport Collision and a business owner. He has three children: Destyne Lent (26), Hunter Lent (23), who was a former Big 30 player, and Noah Lent, (22), also a former Big 30 player. Joel lists his hobbies as Coaching Football & Baseball, and Golfing.

Adam B. Jack 

Assistant Varsity Coach

Smethport High School 

Adam is presently the Assistant Varsity Coach for Smethport High School. His awards and accomplishments include being a 1990 AML All-Star on Defense, 2018 District IX Small School North Champions, 2018 District IX Small School North Coach of the Year, 2018 Big 30 Coach of the Year, 2020 District IX Small School North Champions, 2020 Small School Coach of the Year, 2021 District IX Small School North Champions, and being a 2016 Big 30 Assistant Coach. Adam is a partner  at Generational Wealth Management and has been in the wealth management industry for 31 years. Adam is married to Michele Jack, and they have three children – Lindsay Jack Defelice, 27, Marissa Jack, 25, and Parker Jack,23.

Kolin Strawcutter 

Defensive Coordinator 

Smethport High School

Kolin has 7 years of experience as an Assistant Coach. Presently he is the Defensive Coordinator in Smethport. He played football for Smethport from grade 8 through 12. His awards include being an AML North All-Star at linebacker and being a Player in the 2011 Big 30 All-Star game. Professionally, he is a 9-year veteran police officer for the city of Bradford Police Department.

Kevin Lord

Assistant Defensive Coordinator 

Smethport High School

Kevin has spent 5 years as an Assistant Coach in Smethport. He presently is their Assistant Defensive Coordinator. He was a Big 30 quarterback in 2012. Professionally his occupation is a Correctional Officer. He is married to Brooke Lord, and they have two children – Tatum (2) and Ellie (2 months). His hobbies and pastimes include spending time with his family, hunting, and fishing.

Colby Austin

Assistant Coach

Smethport High School 

Colby has been an Assistant Coach for 9 years. Professionally, he is an Elementary School Teacher. He is married to Andrea Austin and they have two children – Maverick, (5) and Harper, (4). His hobbies and pastimes are Coaching, Golfing, Hunting, Fishing, and his favorite NFL team is the Dallas Cowboys.
