EAST AURORA, NY — For the Salamanca boys lacrosse team, its 15-7 loss to No. 1 seed East Aurora in the Section 6 Class D Semifinals marked the end of the road.
The No. 4 seed Warriors saw their season come to a close at the hands of the team that they faced off against to get it underway.
Just over two months ago, on March 24 at Veterans Memorial Park in Salamanca, the Blue Devils blitzed the Warriors, handing them a 15-5 defeat. Salamanca faced a 12-1 deficit at the break and while the second half went its way by a 4-3 margin, the damage in the first half was too much to overcome.
The second and final meeting between the sides this season, at East Aurora this time, wound up with a similar final scoreline. Granted, this time the Warriors were able to prevent an early deluge of goals as East Aurora led just 5-4 after the first half.
A 10-3 second half in favor of the Blue Devils ultimately sent the Warriors packing.
Salamanca finished the season with a 10-6 overall record.
