PORTVILLE, NY – Ending their regular season on a high note, the Portville softball team enter the playoffs fresh off a dominating performance, beating Cattaraugus Little Valley 14-1 in six innings.
After two scoreless frames, the Panthers’ bats finally opened the flood gates in the third, scoring three in an effort that began with Sienna Schoonover’s single that drove in Kylie Maedl. While Portville finished the frame with three, they doubled down in the fourth with four before erupting for a mercy-rule-sealing seven runs in the sixth.
Madison Ford led Portville with a game-high four hits during her five trips to the plate, tallying three runs scored and another three driven in. Ella Warters came away with a 3-for-5 afternoon where she tallied four RBIs and one run, while Schoonover went 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.
Finishing the season at 7-6, the Panthers now await the start of the Section VI playoffs, which are set to begin next week.

DUNKIRK, NY – Unable to find timely hits, the Warriors suffered their eleventh loss of the season.
Addy Earley finished 2-for-3 for Salamanca while Mae Bacelli ended 1-for-2 with one run and Charli Ross went 1-for-3.
Salamanca will end their season on Saturday when they travel to Frewsburg for a 9 a.m. showing.
