OLEAN — Operation Warm Hearts and the Olean Rotary Club have joined forces once again to help area families in need with a diaper and pull-up drive that runs through Feb. 5.

The organizations say the need for diapers remains constant, and that access to clean diapers is essential for the health, safety, and hygiene of infants and toddlers. While donations of all sizes are welcome, the drive is especially seeking diapers in all sizes and wipes.

“Recent data suggests that up to half of U.S. families with young children experience diaper need,” said Ann Marie Sitter-Tompkins, co-founder of Operation Warm Hearts. “Babies without clean diapers face higher risks of painful rashes, urinary tract infections, and additional doctor visits. Diapers are a major expense — about $100 per month per child — and are not covered by SNAP or WIC, forcing families to cut back on food or skip meals. One in four parents miss work or school because childcare centers require a full day’s supply of diapers, which they cannot afford. Families in the area are struggling amid recent cuts to local diaper assistance programs.”

Donations can be dropped off at several convenient locations throughout the community. Items may be delivered during the day to the Operation Warm Hearts donation drop-off at 126 S. 9th St. in Olean.

Donations are also being accepted at Beach House Tanning Salon, located at 324 W. State St. during salon hours: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Additionally, the Olean YMCA is accepting donations at 1101 Wayne St., and can be reached at (716) 373-2400. The YMCA’s fall and winter hours are Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Founded in 2020, Operation Warm Hearts has become a trusted resource in the Olean community, providing clothing and essential items such as dental care products, books, pillows, blankets, and other comfort necessities. The organization works alongside volunteers and charitable partners to support children and families in need and continues to expand its services across the region.

The Olean Rotary Club, a member of Rotary International, follows the motto “Service Above Self,” and supports local service projects, youth programs, and humanitarian outreach efforts designed to improve lives and strengthen community bonds.

The diaper and pull-up drive is one of several initiatives supported by the organizations throughout the year, and residents are encouraged to contribute if they are able.
