PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Shaking off a slow start, the Port Allegany girl’s basketball team bounced back in the second half, pulling off a season sweep over Smethport, 39-23, as they tallied their seventh consecutive win.

After misfiring early and finding themselves just narrowly ahead at 16-14 going into the halftime break, the Lady Gators responded with a flurry of offense in the third quarter. Knocking down a pair of long balls in the period, Port outscored the Lady Hubbers 11-4 before sealing their win with their strongest scoring quarter of the night, tallying 12 points to Smethport’s five.

Brynn Evens led the Lady Gators in the win, scoring 14 points alongside her seven rebounds, five assists, three blocks and three steals. Joanna Darush had nine points, six rebounds and four blocks while Maddy Errick came away with seven points.
