SHINGLEHOUSE, PA – Propelled by a big third quarter, the Port Allegany girl’s basketball team returned to 0.500 with a 42-30 win over Oswayo Valley.
After leaving the first quarter knotted at 6-6, the Lady Gators began to steadily pull away. Jenna Renner spearheaded the offense in the second, scoring seven of Port’s 15 points in the quarter as they outscored OV 15-2, taking a 13-point lead entering halftime. Renner then continued to carry the load in the third, tacking on eight more points amidst a 19-point Lady Gator third quarter that all but sealed their fifth victory of the season.
Renner ended with a game-high 15 points and five rebounds while Peyton Gordon ended with eight points and five rebounds as well.

SINCLAIRVILLE, NY – Witnessing a massive fourth quarter from the Cougars, Portville dropped a second consecutive loss as they fell to 3-3.
Although they had trailed all game, the Panthers managed to chip the deficit down to single digits with just eight minutes remaining. However, looking to drive in the final nail, Cassadaga Valley sealed their fourth win of the year with a 15-point fourth quarter, outscoring Portville by five to keep their narrow advantage alive.
Leading the Panthers was Ali Haynes who posted another double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds as well as three blocks. Mia Rhinehart ended with 11 points while Ava Scanlon came away with three steals in the loss.

BOYS BASKETBALL

ST. MARYS, PA – Playing their second game in as many days, the Owls were handed another narrow defeat, this time at the hands of the Dutch.
Bradford had two scorers reach double-digit figures, with Evan Troisi leading the way with 13 points, two rebounds and a steal. Tyler Simmons ended with 11 points, a steal and an assist while Danny Marasco led the Owls in rebounding with eight.
Bradford has one game remaining on this week’s schedule, a home game against Kane on Thursday. That matchup is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
