SHINGLEHOUSE, PA – Crossing over the border for a Keystone matchup, the Portville girl’s basketball team picked up their third win with a dominating 38-6 win over Oswayo Valley.

Early on, the Panthers’ offense struggled to materialize on the hardwood. With plays breaking down, rebounds not falling their way and an array of forced shots, Portville couldn’t quite find a rhythm. The initial effort was led by freshman Ava Scanlon, who scored all of the Panthers’ eight first-quarter points.

While their offense waivered, however, their defense dominated. Beginning with high-octane ball pressure, Portville denied the Lady Green Wave at every turn. Coming away with steals in bunches, the Panthers held OV scoreless for the entire first half of play as they built up a comfortable 20-point lead. Portville would coast on that massive lead through the final 16 minutes, pulling out a road win for their third of the season.

Altogether, seven Panthers entered the scoring column during the win. Ali Haynes led the way with nine points, also recording 14 rebounds and four steals, while Emma Rhinehart ended with eight points and four steals.
