OLEAN, NY – Behind Jabre’yah Brown’s 15-point performance, the Olean girl’s basketball team earned their first win of the season, defeating Cattaraugus 50-21 in the final game of their season-opening home stand.
The Huskies’ offense got off the ground early in the contest, with Ava Finch and Alaina Hirliman combining for 13 of Olean’s 15 first-quarter points. Allowing just two points during the opening eight minutes, Olean cruised to a 22-14 advantage heading into halftime.
Entering the second half, Brown found her rhythm. Tacking on 10 points in the third, she led the Huskies to a 28-7 run in the final two quarters, dominating the Timberwolves for their initial win of the fresh campaign.
Alongside Brown, Viktoriia Lozynska also reached double-digit scoring, ending with 10, while Finch came away with eight points and Hirliman ended with seven.
Next, Olean will hit the road on Friday, Dec. 12, when they will travel to face Allegany-Limestone for a game slated for 7:30 p.m.
