No injuries were reported from a structure fire at 401 W. Greene St. Saturday night.

Multiple 911 calls were received as fire units were enroute to the scene of the fire about 6:15 p.m., which prompted a second alarm, according to Fire Capt. Bryan Swift of the Central Fire Station.

“The first arriving unit reported smoke showing from the structure and initiated the fire attack,” Swift reported. “Additional crews conducted searches of all floors, including the basement and attic, to ensure no occupants were inside and to check for any fire extension. All searches were negative.”

The fire was brought under control in about eight minutes at 6:23 p.m.

Crews then performed salvage and overhaul operations and ventilated the building using positive-pressure fans.  No fire extension was found beyond the area of origin, Swift said.

Olean Fire Department investigators were requested to the scene and completed their examination.

The cause of the fire was determined to be accidental, Swift said.
