OLEAN — Voices of the People Movement will hold a protest at Lincoln Park Saturday, Nov. 22, from noon to 2 p.m. 

The protest is in support of the Washington, D.C., said Jessica Davis of the local Voices of the People Movement.

The theme of the protest is Rage against the Regime 2.0.

David urged participants to bring flags, noise makers and signs. “This is a peaceful protest,” she added. “We do engage with counter-protesters.”

Those attending are asked to bring donations to to assist unhoused neighbors to the protest, Davis said.

Among the items being requested are: moisture wicking/thermal socks, hand warmers, pads and tampons, water, Mylar blankets, insulated gloves, body wipes or baby wipes, first aid supplies (bandages, Neosporin and alcohol wipes), tarps, heavy duty trash bags and/or ponchos, new underwear, travel size hygiene items in ziploc bags to stay dry, ziploc bags, protein bars, tuna packets, fruit cups, pop-top canned food, metal reusable water bottles, herbs/seasonings, protein drinks and gift cards to local stores or restaurants.

Davis said that while it is good “to prioritize nutrition dense foods, dessert/fun snacks when able since that seemed to bring a great amount of joy.”

Also needed are gently used winter coats, hats and boots. 

People struggling with homelessness can also benefit from printed or written  resource lists of local non-profits, food pantries, and local shelter code blue protocol information, Davis said.
