WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – Coming into the championship game against a team they had already seen twice this year, the Allegany-Limestone girl’s soccer team’s season came to an end without a banner as they lost 2-1 to Falconer/CV/MG.
Throughout the regular season, the Golden Falconers were a team A-L had yet to figure out. In their first meeting of the season, Falconer took the early-season advantage with a 3-1 win on Wednesday, Sept. 10 before the Gators struck back with a 2-0 shutout win a few weeks later on Wednesday, Oct. 1. In the weeks since, however, the Gators had been hitting their stride, collecting a 4-2 record that included wins against Newfane, Roy-Hart and Fredonia as they cleared a path to the Section VI Class C championship game.
For Falconer, the third seed, they earned back-to-back wins over Medina and Akron in the first two rounds, winning by a combined score of 12-0, before earning their spot in the finals with a 4-1 win over second-seeded Southwestern.
In the culmination of the season, A-L and the Golden Falconer battled throughout the first half without allowing the scoreboard to be broken. However, in the final few minutes before the break, Kyle Kress punched in a goal over the Gators off an assist from Sydnee Snow, giving Falconer the momentum as they left the pitch.
Throughout the second half, A-L couldn’t turn the tide. Clawing through another 40 minutes of play, the Gators still faced the same unchanged deficit, one that would ultimately end their season.

Wilson 1, Allegany-Limestone 0 – Section VI Class C Championship
WEST SENECA, NY – In a clash of the top two seeds in the bracket, the Gators season came to a title-less end as their stalemate with Eagles was broken in the final two minutes.
Dominating through the playoffs, neither the Gators nor the Eagles had given up a single point. A-L took 3-0 and 2-0 wins over No. 7 Ellicottville/Franklinville and No. 3 Randolph while Wilson cruised to the championship stage with a 4-0 victory over No. 8 North Collins and a 3-0 win over No. 5 Portville. With the championship on the line, the final battle would be one of defenses.
Those defenses remained deadlocked for all but the final two minutes of play, when Wilson’s Gage Gallie punched a goal in late off an assist from David Gurski. With virtually no time left to respond, the Gators were left to face the reality of their elimination.
