BELMONT — An Olean man has been charged with shooting into a village of Belmont home with children early Thursday.

Amity-based state police said Robert J. Deahn, 36, of Olean, allegedly fired a 12 gauge shotgun into a Genesee Street home from the front yard shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.

Police said he was involved in a domestic incident earlier when he unexpectedly arrived at the home and allegedly threatened the victim with a knife before leaving.

Deahn was charged with one count of second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor; one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony; three counts of first-degree reckless endangerment, D felonies and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child under 17, A misdemeanors.

State police located Deahn on West Water Street in the town of Friendship where he was taken into custody without incident at 4:53 a.m. 

Also located was a 12 gauge shotgun police said was still warm to the touch. An expended shell was still in the gun.

Troopers also found the knife Deahn allegedly brandished before the victim earlier.

Two children were among those inside the home when Deahn fired at the front of the house.

Deahn was jailed in Allegany County Jail pending arraignment.
