BARKER, NY — The Salamanca football team is no stranger to dramatic postseason runs.
Just two years ago, the Warriors danced all the way to the NYSPHSAA Semifinal and last year took the next step, reaching the final.
Unfortunately for No. 8 seed Salamanca, its hopes for another storybook playoffs were dashed after falling 46-30 in its Class C Quarterfinal matchup against No. 1 Seed Barker/Roy-Hart.
But it was not for a lack of effort. Quarterback Payton Bradley put together a stellar performance with 72 passing yards, 53 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Alongside him, Conner Seeley had one of his best games of the season with 137 rushing yards on just four attempts, scoring a touchdown in the process as well. Waylon Dowdy recorded the only other touchdown for the Warriors, reeling in a pass from Bradley for the score. He had two catches for 41 yards.
