CATTARAUGUS, NY – Despite outshooting their opponents 31-2, the Salamanca girls soccer team just couldn’t find a way into the back of the net, ultimately losing 2-1 to Cattaraugus Little Valley.
Salamanca got on the scoreboard first after Addy Earley netted the initial goal of the day off an assist from Eloise Brown in the 22nd minute. However, after holding CLV scoreless for the next 55 minutes, an untimely penalty at the end of the second half gave way to a score from Talon Bramer.
With the game tied and heading into overtime, the Timberwolves punched the game-winning goal after just two minutes.
Despite the loss, Salamanca retained their second place spot in the CCAA Division 2 standings, sitting at 4-2. Up next, the Warriors take on Pine Valley/Gowanda on Wednesday. That game, in Gowanda, starts at 4:30 p.m.
Falconer/CV/MG 5, Olean 0
OLEAN, NY – Falling to 1-9-1 on the season, the Olean girl’s soccer team watched Falconer/CV/MG relentlessly pound the back of the net as they fell 5-0 and suffered their eighth shutout loss of the season.
The Golden Eagles got to work early, scoring twice in the first half before finishing off Olean with three goals in the second, scoring all three within 15 minutes.
In goal for the Huskies, Lilah Armstrong ended with 14 saves.
Allegany-Limestone 3, Southwestern 1
JAMESTOWN, NY – The Gators extended their win streak to three with a dominating win over the Trojans.
After taking home wins over Jamestown and Olean last week, A-L picked up their fourth victory of the season with an upset of Southwestern, who sits at second in the CCAA Division I. The Gators, sitting two spots behind, currently boast a 4-2-2 record in league play.
With just four games left on the schedule, they will look to solidify their postseason position as they wrap their season with four more CCAA Div. I opponents, starting with Faloner/CV/MG on Wednesday. That game is slated for a 4:30 p.m. start at Allegany-Limestone.
Bradford 3, Meadville 1
BRADFORD, PA – Three Lady Owls scored as the team picked up their eighth win of the season.
Spreading the offense by committee, Miley Swanson, Harmony Schneider and Karissa Chamberlain would all find the back of the net during Bradford’s victory over the Bulldogs. Cami Sheely ended the night with two assists while Madi Stark came away with six saves.
Volleyball
Portville 3, Fredonia 0
FREDONIA, NY – The Portville girls volleyball team’s dominant season continued on the road at Fredonia as the Panthers defeated the Hillbillies 25-20, 25-13, 25-15.
Ali Haynes led Portville with 17 kills, four aces, three digs and three blocks. Alongside her, Addie Walker provided 31 assists, two kills and four digs, Gaitley Maiolo had seven kills and two digs and Leigha Stives finished with five kills, four aces, three digs and two blocks.
Port Allegany 3, Coudersport 0
PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Keeping their record unblemished, the Lady Gators added another win to the resume with a sweep over Coudy.
Three Lady Gators ended with double-digit kills on the night, with Lily Lehmier leading the pack with 16. She also recorded 12 digs alongside an ace and a block while Brynn Evens had 11 kills, seven digs and two aces. Mady Errick ended with 10 digs and two kills and Isla Lehmier ran the floor with 29 assists to go with her five digs and four aces.
Next, Port will take on Austin on Thursday where they look to go for a season sweep over the Lady Panthers.
Catt. Little Valley 3, Salamanca 0
CATTARAUGUS, NY – Hadleigh Krug ended with 14 digs as the Warriors dropped their eighth loss of the season.
Ayla Newark ended with four kills and three aces and Liana Jimerson collected seven assists.
Otto-Eldred 3, Oswayo Valley 0
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA – Led by Rayel Hakes’ six blocks, the Lady Terrors dominated Cam Co. 25-14, 25-9 and 25-18.
Along with her work at the net, Hakes recorded 16 kills, 16 digs and three assists. Alya Van Scoter recorded six kills and nine digs while Jahden Smith tallied 14 digs and five kills. Emma Button controlled the tempo, dishing out 30 assists to go with her six digs.
Austin 3, Smethport 1
SMETHPORT, PA – Despite finding a strong start, the Lady Hubbers were ultimately routed by Austin thereafter.
Alyssa Ayers contributed seven kills and three aces, Addison Wimer had six kills and one ace and Jenna Goodman ended the night with 12 assists.
