PORTVILLE, NY – Standing behind Kailey Bartlett’s three goals, the Port United girl’s soccer team improved to 3-2 with a road 3-0 win over Bolivar-Richburg.
While Joanna Darush recorded an assist on one of the goals, Bartlett took the other two on her own, making her way to the net before punching in back-to-back shots. Starting in the net for the Lady Gators, Kylee Whiting preserved the shutout win with 10 saves while Port’s closer, Hannah Taylor, recorded three saves.
The Lady Gators now enjoy one day’s rest before continuing their road trip with a Wednesday game in St. Marys against Elk County Catholic. That game is slated for a 7 p.m. start and will follow the Port United boy’s soccer game at 5:30 p.m.

FALCONER, NY – The Huskies’ early-season struggles continued with their fourth loss and third shutout of the season.
The Golden Falcons took the lead early in the first half, scoring in the seventh minute with an unassisted goal from Giada Schauman before sealing the win with another goal in the 52nd minute. That score came from Gracie Chimera and was assisted by Julianna Roth.
In goal for Olean was Alaina Hirliman, who ended the day with 16 saves.
Up next, the Huskies return home for a game against Jamestown before taking back to the road for a matchup against Salamanca on Friday and Portville on Monday. Both those contests are set for 4:30 starts.
Boys Soccer
Portville 5, Bolivar-Richburg 1
PORTVILLE — The Portville boys soccer team put on an offensive clinic against Bolivar-Richburg, highlighted by a two-goal, two-assist night from star midfielder Colin German.
John Neeson, Garrett Reynolds and Patrick Perkins each got on the scoresheet as well for the Panthers, who netted four of their five goals in the second half.

FILMORE, NY – After scoring 11 goals in their first two games, the Gators suffered their first loss of the season behind a shutout defeat on the road.
A-L looks to bounce back on Saturday, when they take on Cuba-Rushford at 3 p.m.
Volleyball
Port Allegany 3, Bradford 0
PORT ALLEGANY, PA – Taking on a prolific Port squad, the Lady Owls were sent back in defeat, dropping a third loss to their season via sweep.
Bradford came out of the gates slow, producing a 25-14 set one loss before slowly gaining foot holds with a 25-18 loss in set No. 2 and a 25-16 elimination loss 25-16 in set No. 3.
Hayley Keane ended with nine kills followed by Emma Pilon with five. Aliya Corignani ran the offense as usual, recording 18 assists, two kills and two blocks.
For Port, Jenna Renner ended with 12 kills, six digs, three aces and two blocks while Peyton Gordon had four blocks and six aces. Isla Lehmier finished with 18 assists alongside Brynn Evens’ eight digs and three aces.
Otto-Eldred 3, Northern Potter 0
ULYSSES, PA – The Lady Terrors kept their undefeated season start alive, beating a third consecutive North Tier League opponent with a third consecutive sweep.
Next, they return to the Terror Dome for a contest against Austin at 7 p.m.
Portville 3, Chautauqua Lake 0
MAYVILLE, NY – The Portville girls volleyball team extended its unbeaten run to start the new season with a 26-24, 25-11 and 25-18 sweep over Chautauqua Lake.
Ali Haynes led the Panthers with 20 kills, four blocks and nine digs. Alongside her, Gaitley Maiolo tallied seven kills, Leigha Stives had five kills, Mia Rhinehart finished with 23 digs and Adelyn Walker had three aces and 30 assists.
Olean 3, Dunkirk 0
OLEAN, NY – The Huskies began the 2025 campaign with a clean sweep over the Marauders, winning 25-18, 25-15 and 25-17.
Haylie Bednarski led Olean with 10 kills and six digs while Ava Moses recorded seven kills, an ace and a block. Ariana Finch tallied 26 assists, four digs and a team-high seven aces in the win.
Olean next takes on Falconer at home on Wednesday in a match slated for 6:30 p.m.
Gowanda 3, Salamanca 1
GOWANDA, NY – The Salamanca girls volleyball team put up a fight, but fell to Gowanda on the road 10-25, 25-22, 13-25 and 15-25.
The Warriors were led by Corrina John who finished with 11 kills, four blocks and four aces. Bella Maines, who tallied 22 assists and six digs, Envy Cross, who had four kills, three blocks and four aces, and Maleina Moses, who recorded four kills, six digs and four aces also came up big for the Warriors.
Allegany-Limestone 3, Randolph 0
RANDOLPH, NY – The Allegany-Limestone girls volleyball team improved to 2-0 as they recorded their second sweep of the season, defeating Randolph 25-15, 25-12 and 25-7.
Serena Frederick led the Gators with 13 kills and five digs. Alongside her, Julia DeRose finished with 16 assists and four aces, Mia McCarthy had 11 digs and Makenzie Goldsmith recorded four kills.
Girls Tennis
Maple Grove 4, Salamanca 1
SALAMANCA, NY – The Warriors fell to 0-2-1 despite a closely fought day on the courts against Maple Grove.
The competition started fiercely, beginning the first singles between Salamanca’s Emma Prey and Maple’s Megan McGee. After trading sets and forcing a tie-breaker, Prey ultimately came up short, losing 7-5. Although Maple Grove would cleanly win the second singles, Sage Huff recorded the Warriors first win in the third singles, winning 7-6 and 6-1. The victory also served as her first official singles win.
After dropping another sweep in the first doubles, the second doubles would also be decided via tie-breaker. The duet of Morgan Palmer and Fiona Mckune lost the first set 6-3, but fired back with a 7-5 win in set No. 2. However, once again, Salamanca would miss the set-deciding victory, instead losing 7-4.
