SUNDAY ROUNDUP: Lizards, Hitmen settle for tie due to inclement weather

SALAMANCA, NY — The Salamanca Lizards, falling behind the eight ball early, managed to pull themselves back into contention only for adverse weather to put a stop to their momentum.

In their game against Horseheads, Salamanca conceded three runs in the second inning on three hits as the Hitmen jumped on the hosts’ starting pitcher Dylan Novak (7 SO, 4 BB).

But luckily for the Lizards, Novak shook off the rough inning and settled back into a groove, holding the visitors to just one hit over the next four frames.

And it was during those innings Salamanca started to claw back, scoring a run in the bottom of the third courtesy of Nate Wolf (1-for-2, run, RBI) on a Timothy Johnson (1-for-2) RBI double. A run apiece from Lucas Marsh (1-for-3) and Gavin Lasko (1-for-3) tied the game for the hosts in the sixth, but as momentum started to build, so did the storms in the area.

A two hour weather delay later and the game was eventually called, with a point going to each Salamanca and Horseheads.
