Olean- Thomas A. Baxter of Haskell Rd., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at his home.

Tommy was born in Olean on January 25, 1954, the son of the late Arthur and Gloria (Nye) Baxter. On August 22, 1987, at Christ United Methodist Church, he married the former Debra Murphy, who survives him.

A 1972 graduate of Allegany High School, he then began working for Dresser Rand. Tommy also worked for Jerry Greene Used Cars and was the Owner/Operator of The Haskell Inn for some years. He retired from Petzen Excavating, where he was a heavy equipment operator. In his off hours, Tommy could be found working on cars or helping any of his many friends or neighbors. He could often be found hanging out at The Barn with his friends, shooting a game of pool or talking about the latest ballgame or race.

Tommy is survived by his loving wife, Deb; his daughters, Vanessa Potter of Indiana, Shanell Weaver of Indiana, and Dezeree (Travis) Smith of Alabama; a stepdaughter, Michelle (Jeffrey) Miodonski of Orchard Park, and stepson, Jason Kirchner of South Carolina; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; his siblings, Steve Baxter of Ohio, William Baxter of Allegany and April Kane of Ohio; and The Barn Crew, IYKYK.

He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Gloria; a granddaughter, Abbigail; and many beloved friends and pets.

A Celebration of Tommy’s Life is being planned for a date and time to be announced.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
