DUNKIRK — The Olean baseball team, seeking to avenge its loss to Dunkirk from earlier in the season, stumbled in pursuit of the season split, falling 13-3 after five innings on May 17.

Despite matching their hosts in terms of hits on the day, the Huskies were unable to get their offense going until it was just about too late, scoring their only three runs in the top of the fifth in an attempt to stave off a run-rule defeat.

Unfortunately for them those three runs were matched by the Marauders in the bottom of the fifth, and after scoring nine runs between the third and fourth innings, closed out the affair.

Dominik Myers was the only Olean player to record multiple hits, finishing the game 2-for-3 with an RBI.

SALAMANCA — Conceding nine runs between the third and fourth innings, the Salamanca baseball team put up enough of a fight to ward off a run-rule, but still fell to Akron 12-2 in a non-league affair.

The Tigers jumped on Salamanca’s pitching from the start, recording 11 of their 13 total hits in the game off the Warriors’ starting pitcher Jacob Herrick.

Zach Trietley was the only member of Salamanca’s team that finished with multiple hits against Akron, going 2-for-2 with a walk.
