FREDONIA, NY — On the table for the Olean softball team entering its penultimate game of the regular season was a shot at the CCAA Div. I title, all it needed was to upset the current league leaders on their own diamond.

A tall task that was made all the more difficult behind numerous defensive mistakes and struggles at the plate. And unfortunately for the Huskies, their hopes of league glory came up short as they fell 6-1 to the Hillbillies.

Olean racked up seven errors against Fredonia and only managed to record two hits over the course of the affair, one each coming courtesy of Riley Sudbrook and Amelia Jones.

Emma Edwards struck out seven batters and gave up just five hits, but as the defense sputtered behind her the game ran away from the Huskies.

WARREN, PA — Bouncing back from consecutive losses, the Bradford softball team got its offense going early, and survived a late push from Warren on the road.

The Owls were out-hit by the Dragons 11-4 on the day, but the former’s keen eyes at the plate led to nine walks compared to the three Warren drew.

Consistency was also key for Bradford as it scored two runs apiece in each of the game’s first three innings, giving them a 6-2 advantage over that span. A run difference that was key in surviving Warren’s five-run fifth inning.
