Bradford- Louis J. Colts, Sr. “Devoted Family Man”
Louis J. Colts, Sr., 66, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May, 8, 2025 surrounded by his family at the Bradford Manor following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born September 23, 1958 in Bradford he was the cherished son of Rosie Marie Colts and Louis J. Marquardt.
Lou enlisted in the United States Army on February 27, 1976 stationed in Fort Bragg. He was a proud paratrooper who embraced the thrill of parachuting and testament to his fearless nature and adventurous soul. Lou was honorably discharged on February 19, 1982.
Lou had a work ethic like no other. His career in the oil industry spanned many years. Beginning at Halliburton and most recently at Satterlee Resources where he built lasting friendships and operated heavy equipment in the mountains, he adored.
Lou was a devoted family man who found joy in the simple moments shared with his loved ones. He was a proud father, grandfather and great grandfather and a guiding presence in the life of his granddaughter Lydia, whom he helped raise. Whether attending family events or cheering on his grandchildren at sports games, Lou’s presence brought warmth and strength.
Lou was a lifetime member of the Frances Sherman Auxiliary to the Bradford VFW Post 212 and an active member of the Bradford Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge 24733. He had a deep love for the outdoors hunting, kayaking, and walking in the woods brought him peace. His legendary collection of camping gear was a reflection of his generous spirit and readiness to explore.
Lou is survived by; 5 children, Angel (Brian) Johnston, Kim (Jim Ratcliff) Colts, Lisa Colts, Monica (Mike) Austin and Robert Frost; 10 grandchildren, Anna, Brittany, Brian II, Nicholas,Cedric Colts-Wilson, James II, Dakota, Maelynn, Eli, Lydia, Nathanyll and Louis III; 9 great grandchildren, Cory, Rilee, James III, Brian III, Azaliah, Zariah, Joey, Jesse and Violet; 3 brothers, Dicky (Rhonda) Colts, Billy Colts and Bobby Colts; 2 nieces, Melissa (Brad) Mason and Tabatha Colts; 3 nephews, Jon Colts, Dicky Colts and Bobby Colts.
Lou was predeceased by; his parents, a son, Louis Colts, Jr. and a brother, Timothy Colts.

Lou will be remembered for his adventurous heart, generous soul and unwavering love for his family. He was a patriot, a provider and a friend and his legacy will continue through all who knew and loved him.
Private services were held at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery, Bradford. Online condolences may be made at www.letromcintoshspinkfuneralhome.com
