SALAMANCA — After suffering its first two losses of the season in back-to-back games against CCAA Div. I rivals Dunkirk, the Salamanca baseball team jumped back into the win column with a comfortable 11-1 win over Cuba-Rushford.

After recording just two hits in their most recent loss, the Warriors wasted no time warming up the bats against the rebels, scoring four runs on two hits in the opening frame. The hosts continued to then build upon their lead, adding one in the second and third innings apiece before C-R was able to get on the board with a run of their own in the fourth.

And while the visitors may have hoped the run would bring them to life while in pursuit of a comeback, it had the opposite effect, and only added fuel to Salamanca’s fire as they forced a run-rule with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Kruz Coustenis, once again, led the Warriors with a 2-for-3 performance in which he scored a run and tallied two RBI. Zach Trietley went the distance on the mound for the hosts, striking out seven and walking just two.
