ALLEGANY — Through four innings, there was not much to split the Allegany-Limestone and Otto-Eldred baseball teams.
However, with eight runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Gators were able to break the game open and cruise across the finish line with a 13-8 win. The hosts connected for 12 hits in the win over the Terrors, six of which were recorded by Collin Forrest and Caleb Strade.
Forrest led A-L, going 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI. Strade backed him up well going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Vinny LaBella went 2-for-4 with two RBI from the leadoff spot as well for A-L and finished as its only other batter with multiple hits.
Meanwhile, O-E was only able to connect for five hits, the majority of which came from Landon Francis (1-for-4, two runs, RBI), Jared Obenrader (1-for-2, three runs) and Macaibe Splain (1-for-4, two runs, RBI) at the top of the lineup.
It was a by-committee effort for the Gators on the mound, which Forrest started, lasting 2.2 innings, recording two strikeouts and three walks in the process.
Obenrader struck out three and walked five after starting the game on the mound for the Terrors. But after conceding 10 hits and 10 runs through 4.2 innings, he was replaced by Ryan Schenfield who rounded out the game with two strikeouts and three walks of his own.
