Susie B. Chase, 79, of Great Valley, passed away Monday, April 7, 2025 at her home. She was born on July 9, 1945 in Humphrey, daughter of the late Harry and Hazel (Herlett) Chapman. On December 29, 1962 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ellicottville, she married the late Loile Chase, who predeceased her on November 5, 2013.
Susie was a longtime member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ellicottville as well as St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Salamanca, and its altar guild. She was also a member of the Great Valley Vol. Fire Dept. Auxiliary as well as the Ellicottville American Legion. She was also a past leader of the Ellicottville Girl Scouts and enjoyed bowling in her Tuesday night league.
Mrs. Chase is survived by a son, Dana (Susan) Chase of Great Valley, and two daughters; Deborah Knier of Salamanca, and Mary Gilman of Great Valley, and a daughter-in-law, Debra Chase of Great Valley. Also surviving is a brother, Gary Chapman of Springville, and 12 grandchildren; Joshua, Jerri, Carrie, Brandy, Amber (Rob), Austin (Pammy), Avery (Kyla), Olivia, Gregory, Storm (Tessa), Cameron, and Brett, as well as several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and loving husband, Susie is predeceased by a son, David Chase, two brothers; Robert and Roger Chapman, and three sisters; Shirley Ginnery, Betty Gilman, and Joyce Ginnery.
Friends may call on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 11 am to 2 pm from Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St. in Little Valley. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 pm from the funeral home.
Burial will be in Green Cemetery.
