BROCKWAY, PA – Starting their campaign on the road, the Bradford softball team stumbled out of the gates, losing 10-0 to Brockway on Monday in five innings.
The Lady Owls’ offense failed to get moving as they couldn’t find a way past the Lady Rovers’ ace, Bailee Carberry. Getting dispatched by strikeout after strikeout, Bradford could only watch as Brockway began building up the score.
Despite suffering two outs in their first three batters, the Lady Rovers would score on their fourth, with Rheanna Spinda hitting a double that brought in one run. Spinda would then cross home plate herself following a triple from Meeca Smith. Although they were held scoreless by Bradford in the second frame, Brockway would double down in the third, scoring largely on Lady Owl errors. With two baserunners on, an unfielded grounder allowed the first run of the inning while a walk and dropped third strike would let in another. By the time Bradford managed a third out, the Lady Rovers had built a 6-0 lead.
Seemingly helpless, Bradford bowed out of the competition by letting up another four runs in the fifth, ending the game prematurely. No Lady Owl registered a hit in the contest.
Bradford will play their next game on Monday, facing Kane in their first time on their home diamond. That matchup is slated for 4 p.m.
