Olean, NY Corrynne A. Gerwitz, 73, of Olean, passed away Sunday (March 16, 2025) after a long-term illness, with her loving husband of 32 years by her side.
Born October 17, 1951 in Olean, she was a daughter of Clarence and Songa Carlein Brookins. On June 6, 1992 at the First Baptist Church in Olean she married Leonard F. Gerwitz who survives.
After obtaining her GED, Corrynne attended Jamestown Community College and then Olean Business Institute where she received her medical secretarial degree. She worked many different jobs throughout her life, including Cattaraugus Wyoming Counties Project Head Start, and more recently Cutco in Olean. She also volunteered for the American Red Cross.
Corrynne is survived by her loving husband, Leonard; 2 sons, Robert (Andrea) Brookins and Francis (Becky) Peck; 13 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 sister Clarisse (Jim) Little, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, and a son Jubal.
The family invites friends to a memorial visitation from 10am to 11am on Saturday (March 22, 2025) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean.
A celebration of life service for Corrynne will begin at 11am in the funeral home, officiated by Rev. Chuck Maine. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, Olean.
