No serious injuries reported From North Sixth Street Fire

OLEAN — No serious injuries were reported Thursday at a house fire at 119 S. Sixth St.

The fire was reported to Olean police dispatch at 11:30 a.m., with the first units arriving at 11:34, said Fire Chief Eric Maurouard. Heavy smoke was coming from multiple sides of the house.

“Crews stretched three hose lines and located and extinguished fire on the first floor and in the basement,” the fire chief said. “There were no civilian injuries. Two firefighters were treated for minor injuries.” The chief said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

City firefighters were assisted on scene by Olean Police, Portville and Allegany Fire Departments. Trans Am handled ambulance calls in the city during the fire. Hinsdale, Allegany, and the Town of Olean volunteer fire departments were on standby during the fire.
