Francis “Gene” Geyer Allegany, NY Francis “Gene” Geyer, of Five Mile Rd., passed away peacefully Wednesday (February 5, 2025) at his home.
Born September 16, 1937 in Olean, he was the son of Frank O. and Mary A. Finn. On November 9, 1991 in Allegany, he married Beverly Chapin who survives.
Gene attended school in Cheektowaga and then enlisted in the US Navy at the age of 17 where he served from 1954 to 1957. He worked as an auto trimmer for various businesses in the Buffalo area for many years before retiring. He was a member of the Allegany American Legion Post 892 and was a hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed his yearly trips to Canada with his group of fellow fishermen.
He leaves behind his wife Beverly; 3 sons, William (Shelly) Geyer of Perkasie, PA, Michael Geyer of Grand Island, and Travis Geyer of Allegany; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, George Geyer, a sister, Mary Seibel, and an infant brother.
The family welcomes friends to a visitation and memorial service on Wednesday (February 12, 2025) at the Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home, 3128 W. State Rd., Olean. Visitation will be from 4-6pm, followed by a memorial service at 6pm.
Pastor Roberta Mosier-Peterson of Creekside Chapel in Allegany will officiate. Memorials may be made to the Allegany American Legion, 4350 Rte. 417, Allegany, NY 14706, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
